Women’s Presses & Publishers

The following publishers specialize in writing by / for / about women. Some of these presses publish women exclusively; others are simply committed to amplifying marginalized voices, drawing attention to women’s issues, or advancing a feminist agenda. The description of each press is taken directly from the associated website.

This list is a work in progress. If you find a non-working link or newly defunct press at anytime in the future, or if you know a publisher I should add, please let me know. I appreciate your help in making this list as comprehensive as possible. Thank you!

NB: I have no personal experience with these presses, and their approach to publishing varies widely. Please do your own research before submitting.

  1. Thank you for this list & timely as I have received my first decline on my memoir of being a female guard at the Nevada Test Site during the last big testing in the 1980’s. If Megan Markle, Matthew McConaughey, Katherine, Arnold’s daughter etc., can get books published, why shouldn’t we?

    1. Hi Cynthia, thanks for getting in touch. That first rejection always stings, but IME, they get a little easier with practice! 😀 Keep at it and all the best to you in finding a publisher for your work!
