Today son #2 and I attended the Big Book Day Out run by the NSW chapter of the Children’s Book Council of Australia. You can see by what I’m wearing here that the weather was absolutely glorious! Set in the beautiful grounds of the NSW Writers’ Centre, the event was a wonderful celebration of children’s literature with a really relaxed vibe that encouraged wandering, socializing, and just generally enjoying the company of other book-lovers, writers, and illustrators.

The entire event was very child-oriented with ample opportunity to meet favorite authors and get both new and old books signed. There was also a cake stall, a jumping castle, a craft room and a Story Tent for the little ones. I found it hard to get too many photos of those things as I feel a bit thingy about posting images of other people’s children online, and naturally, there were kids everywhere! But here are plenty of smiling authors:

Thank you for a great day, everyone! We’ll be back next year! 🙂
Great to meet you and your son today. Good luck with the fine work on the blog! Tristan

And you. S couldn’t wait to get home and tell the other boys you read about kissing – perfect giggle / cringe factor for that audience! 😀
